WHAT TYPES OF MATERIAL CAN BE USED FOR DECK BUILDING?

Decks can be built from either wood, composite or vinyl material.  Your wood could be pressure treated or natural redwood and cedar. Composite decking is designed to look like wood and low maintenance. Vinyl decking has multiple colour options and very low maintenance.

WHAT ARE COMPARISONS OF WOOD VS COMPOSITE?

Wood provides low initial cost but requires more maintenance over time, with likely lifespan of 10-15 years.  Composite material starts with a higher initial cost but requires less maintenance, with a lifespan of  15-20 years. Composite decking normally comes with a 10-15 year guarantee.
